Fantasy – J.K Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne – Little, Brown – Harry Potter and the Cursed Child –
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Is always difficult to me to put into words my opinion about a Harry Potter book…these books always make me laugh, cry, hold my breath and love them. This one was a bit different. First of all, it comes as a script format so you haven´t as much description about things as in the previous seven but, on the other hand, we know a lot about Harry Potter universe ( seven books, 8 movies well 9 soon with Fantastic Beast nearly here) that when you read about places, things or people you know all about. Was a bit weird to read this format but once you get used to it, you fly through it and when you notice it you want to slow down a bit just to stay a bit longer with this characters…
Overall I love this book, LOVE IT. I find so interesting to see our loved characters 19 years after, as adults. I find funny some scenes and I think is great to see them as humans and no as heroes. All of them (Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco…) have gone through a cruel war when they were just children-teenagers and I don’t think building a life after it is an easy task. We see them with their fears and their sad moments. With their lights and shadows and that has been always present in these books.
About the new generation…is great. My new favourite character is Scorpius. I always thought Draco was a misunderstood character and that being him was not easy at all. Scorpius is great, funny, loyal and special.
Albus is a good character also but at times he is like «oh common Albus, get over it»
I’m now so nostalgic and with that «depression» after a Harry Potter book. Has been great to come back, to read about adventures, magic, danger, friendship, love…and I wish we could have more and more of this world. Will try my best to go to the theatre and watch this play because definitely worth the investment.
the stories we love best do live in us forever. So whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.

Now, if you want to stop reading, do it but if you carry on you will find SPOILERS so please, if you haven’t read this book yet…come back to this point once you have done it.
This book has been great and I loved the friendship between Albus and Scorpius. I would like to see Harry and Draco as friends but I understand that there are so many circumstances that make this kind of impossible …but Albus-Scorpius team is AWESOME.
As I’ve said before, Scorpius is my new favourite character. He is funny, kind of a geek, intelligent…he is so great since his first appearance. Albus is a very interesting character but, at times, find him a bit egocentric…like Scorpius told him her mum is very poorly and he is on and on about how he wishes Harry wasn’t his dad…or when in the alternative universe is Scorpius the one who goes to Albus and tells Albus «fuck them, we are friends» but also Albus is funny and you can understand all the pressure he has just for being Harry Potter son and a Slytherin. Fact that I personally love. Slytherin has been the house of mad people (Tom, Bellatrix…and a lot more) but also the house of heroes (Severus, Regulus, Narcissa…) and I think is perfect that Albus has been chosen in this house.
Now, Delphi…well…sorry I don’t feel sorry for her. Ok, her parents were evil and cruel, been raised by another evil couple..she has a high potential to be evil but you are able to make decisions and to choose your path…she chooses to be evil and kill innocent people and I saw something on her from the beginning but never thought who she was and what were her plans. The three of them are cursed. Albus has to live under the shadow of the great Harry Potter and accept this figure and his dad as a human and no a hero. He can also be cruel but he chooses not to. Scorpius…well he is the only son of Draco Malfoy, he has to deal with all those rumours that point him as Voldemort son and the loss of her mum…no easy, no the happiest life but he chooses to be good. Delphi…has not an easy life but she could choose different.
The plot…time travelling back to save Cedric Diggory gives us the chance to see again some characters…like Cedric and SEVERUS. Oh my god, I cried just reading that he was alive in that alternate universe and when he sacrificed himself again…pure hero. He ALWAYS will have a special place in my heart. If we could see Sirius again, this book would be perfect. Also, I enjoyed a lot the moment that Draco goes with the Golden Trio to save Albus and Scorpius and Hermione is bossy and he enjoys it and clearly fit in…ADORABLE. Talking about Draco…that moment when Harry and Draco fight and he calls Harry «old man» and Harry is » we are the same age, Draco» great moment.
And I cried…this book is so emotional. That end, Harry letting Voldemort kill his parents and he stays to watch it…oh boy! Or when Draco confessed how difficult and lonely he was in Hogwarts…or all the moments father-son between Harry and Albus…or when Albus and Scorpius saw Lily and James with the baby Harry…seriously…so emotional book.
Another point that made me emotional was seeing in official writing a Scorpius-Rose theme. All those fics, all those theories…real, are real!!
I think is time to stop this and try to accept that the book is over…
Thank you so much for reading this..even is you just stayed to the spoilers free part or you read all. Hope that you have enjoyed Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as much as I did.
When I took this pic, never imagine how well it represents this book 😉
Lots of love,
