Unboxing: Meraki Candles January 2017

– Unboxing – Meraki Candles – January 2017 -Crime and Punishment-

Hello my dear leaves and welcome back to another unboxing

The Meraki box was based on CRIME and PUNISHMENT and all the items are awesome. As usual, we can find four candles and some bookish goodies. For the first time, the candle jar is different. It used to be silver and this month is white. With each box, you can appreciate small changes reflecting a hard and passionate work. Once again, I recommend you to check this box out.

Once you open the box, you will be welcome by the goodies.

The first item that I saw was a lovely HUSH HUSH TEA by The TEA LEAF COMPANY. Without opening it, I could smell the mint. I’m not a bit tea fan (prefer coffee) but this one was lovely.

Next, a mirror based in Sherlock by Goodnight Boutique and also a Sherlock based bookmark by The Graduated Bookmark. To complete the perfect reading set: hot drink, bookmark and coaster for your drink, we can enjoy the amazing Six of Crows based one made by The Bookotter. The artwork, as usual, comes from the amazing Dinomyteart.

I can’t pick my favourite candle, each box is harder to do so. This month we have:

  • AUROR: tangerine, cinnamon and patchouli.
  • SCARLET GUARD: strawberries, gardenia and lily.
  • PEACE KEEPERS: fresh cucumber and melon.
  • DRÚSKELLE: violet, cedar and musk.

Lots of love,

January WRAP-UP and February TBR

– Wrap-up – January 2017 – TBR- February 2017 –

Hello my dear leaves

I would like to start this post saying I’m so sorry I haven’t been much around recently. I know I have said this before but I have been so so so so busy and also facing some personal problems but I can say now that is all much better and I hope to be around more 😄.

Now…let’s move to the important part of this post. Well…the first important part: my monthly wrap-up. As you can imagine, I haven’t read much recently. I was not in the mood, did not find time or energy to read…At the beginning of the month, I selected few books and I only managed to read one of them. Ms Marvel vol. IV.

The good thing is that I brought some books during mu holidays in Spain and I did read them. Making a total of 3 reads this month. I could say it has been kind of a thematic reading month as I have just read manga/ comics.

  • Orange vol. I by Ichigo Takano. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Orange vol. II by Ichigo Takano. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Ms Marvel vol. IV by W. Wilson and A. Alphona. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I did enjoy them very much and hope to read soon the rest of volumes available for both series.

February…the shortest month of the year…I will not pick a massive pile of books for this month (I’m trying to be realistic here 😉).

I’m currently reading Caraval and really enjoying it. It’s kind of a fresh breeze to my lazy reading mood. I have seen this book in lots and lots of  “More anticipated releases” videos/ post and it has been on my list too. FairyLoot sent an amazing box in January with this book as part of it. Can we take a minute to observe this gorgeous cover? 💜💜💜

My next two books have been on my TBR / Wishlist/ To buy list for a long long time. I have heard lots and lots of awesome comments about this story and for some reason, I never find the proper time to dedicate to them. Finally, I’m here. One of my resolutions this year is to read more Sarah J. Maas. I’m a bit scared to open these books as my expectations are high and I don’t want to have a disappointment here.

Happy reading!

Lots of love,

January’ 17 TBR and Book Challenge

– To be Read- Book Challange 2017 – January 2017 –

2017 is here and I know…I’m a bit late with this post but in my defence, I’ve been on holidays till yesterday.

If you have checked my 2016 reading post you would know that I´ve completed my challange

After thinking about it, I have decided to set on 33 books my 2017 Reading Challange and let me tell you that I’ve started the year with an unplanned reading…Orange, Vol. 1 by Ichigo Takano.

If you have not checked the entry I mentioned before, you can do it here.

Also, if you have been here for a while, you would noticed that I’m not very good with my monthly TBR. I have always planned certain amount of books to read each month but I rarely manage to…anyway, these are my chosen books during January:

  1. Nemesis by Anna Banks
  2. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jody Meadows
  3. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  4. The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
  5. Ms. Marvel Vol IV by Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphora.
  6. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Wish me luck with this month TBR, I may need it…

Happy reading to everyone!

Lots of love,

Unboxing: Owlcrate December ‘ 2016

– Unboxing- Owlcrate – December 2016 -Epic –

This month, the box arrived before than ever and I really appreciate the effort of the team to ensure it arrives before Christmas. The theme is perfect for this time of the year. I find Christmas a perfect time to read and/or watch Harry Potter, Narnia or Lord of the Rings. So a book box inspired on it only can be perfect 😁

Our first item is a Funko Mini: Harry Potter and I received Hermione Granger 😍😍😍

The next item was based in other of my favourite universes: say hello to an awesome Lord of the Rings pin

In the epic trip, our next universe used to inspire an item is The Song of Ice and Fire

Do you think this is all? Oh no, get ready to visit Narnia with this lovely card

And finally the book. I have heard great things about this story and I can’t wait to find it a space in my massive TBR.

At the beginning of this year, I started my adventure with Owlcrate and I must admit has been one of my best decisions of 2016. Has been a year full of surprises, lovely books and items.

Check this box subscription for 2017, totally worth  it

Lots of love,

Angela xx

Review: Reading Challenge 2016

– Reading Challenge 2016 – Best and Worst Books of 2016 –

This year I decide to bring back my reading mood and I set my goal in 30 books. The year has finished with 35/30. Challenge completed with 117% 🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻🎉👏🏻

I can say that I’ve had a great reading year. I have re-fallen in love with books, I’ve had lots of good moments travelling to different universes and I’m so happy about being able to enjoy reading once again. Here you can see all the book read during 2016:

Is always a bit hard to choose your best/worst reading of the year,  but here you can find my Top Five Favourites Books of 2016 and my Top Four More Disappointing Books of 2016 in no particular order. That would be a really impossible mission.

  • Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. With this book, I started the year and my reading mood came back. The story captivated me and I couldn’t stop reading.
  • Saga Vol II, III and VI by Brian Vaughan. Another area that I manage to enjoy once again has been graphic novels (comics and manga) and part of it is thanks to these ones. Totally love these comics!
  • Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz has been a book full of feelings and that made me cry more that once.
  • Illuminae by  Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I love, love and love it! This book blew my mind. The story, the format, the characters. All fresh, unique and awesome.
  • Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. This book was perfect. I love it and I wish I discovered it earlier.

  • The Selection by Kiera Cass. This book was a recommendation and I’ve seen a lot of hype about this series but even when I’ve tried more than once the story was not my cup of tea. I found it boring, predictable and I couldn’t finish it.
  • Scarlet Witch, Vol I: Witches’ Road by James Robinson. I really wanted to like this one and I did not. The art, the story, the character…nothing was what I expected.
  • The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron. This dystopian world was ok but that’s all. The book cover is stunning, the story could have so much potential but didn’t meet my expectations.
  • The Wicked and The Divine, Vol. I  by Kieron Gillen was another recommendation and I have problems connecting with the story and characters. The plot is cool but the way is taking place is so weird. I’m still confused about stopping or carrying on with the other volumes.

Hope that you all have had a great reading year and wishing you another great one or even better during 2017 🥂

Let me know your best/worst reading of the year and /or any book that you think I must read in 2017.

Lots of love,

Angela 😘😘

Review: The Sun is also a Star

– Young Adult /Contemporary – Nicola Yoon – Corgi ( Penguin Random House) – The Sun is also a Star –

28763485Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?

The Sun is also a Star is a great book. Nicola Yoon possesses the capability of bringing warm to your heart. Everything, Everything and The Sun is also a Star are different and similar in some ways. Both books have a hard and sad side but also, both books have a big dose of realism and sweet feelings.

This time, the two main characters are Natasha ( Jamaican girl) and Daniel (Korean boy) living in America. Natasha’s world is falling apart and she will be deported in 24 hours. That day, by accident, she met Daniel. Daniel’s facing one of the most important decisions of his life: to follow your dreams or to follow your parents wishes. What happens when two unstable worlds crash? For the answer, I totally recommend you to read this book.

This book brings you a lot of actual themes but you won’t read it in a slow and hard to follow way. The book is a light reading and so, you will find love, religion, family, immigration and the second generation, politics or dreams inside. The characters are well defined and are easy to connect with them.

Natasha has lots of walls around her and she sees life through the facts. On the other hand, Daniel sees life through a dreamer’s eyes. I find very interesting the way both justify to each other how they perceive destiny, love or god. How they think there is a point of non-return but how they manage and go back to each other. I did not expect the way the book ends and in some way I feel is a bit incomplete. That been said, I did enjoy the story and the writing style. I really really enjoyed this book and I totally recommend you to read it.

Lots of love,

Review: Gilmore Girls Revival

– Review – Gilmore Girls -A Year In the Life –

If you haven’t heard about, run to your living room, get comfy and cosy and search in Netflix for Gilmore Girls Revival. We can go back to Stars Hollow nine years after the last time we were there for 6 hours, divided into 4 episodes and a full year of the life of these amazing characters. I love to see Paris (she is great), Kirk, Lane and her band…as well as the main characters

The Revival has been divided into the seasons of a year. We start the show in Winter and leave it in fall. These 6 hours are so intense and full of feelings. You will laugh, get angry, sad, happy, will cry, will feel back home and completely lost…This show has been, is and will be one of my favourites ever. If you haven’t watched it yet (you totally should) Gilmore Girls is the story of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore through the years.

Lorelai is a single mum who got pregnant when she was 16 and Rory is her daughter. With both of them, you will see differents points into the American society and the effort and sacrifices of a mother to ensure the best possible future to Rory. After 7 seasons we leave Rory on her way to cover the Obama campaign after graduating in Yale and Lorelai finally with Luke but most important, all the drama with the Gilmore family in the past and with an amazing future.

Now, be aware that if you carry on reading, you will find spoilers (sorry it is so hard to comment it without)and that I would love to discuss things with other Gilmore Girls fans as these 4 episodes have not been enough…

  1. WINTER: In this episode, we go back to the life of these amazing characters with a massive absence. Richard Gilmore passed away and in this episode, we see his funeral and the impact of his loss to Emily, Lorelai and Rory. To me, this episode is full of feelings. Also, we see how is the life of the characters now.
    1. YES, Lorelai and Luke are together and I would like a lot if the dream that Lorelai had (in which she was pregnant) was real but at least, they live together and seem to be happy.
    2. Rory…on the other hand, is so lost. She has no job, no house, a fake boyfriend (or I really don’t know how to describe Paul) and no plans. There is not a backup, there is not a list and clearly, she is not that successful journalist we all hope she would be. To be honest and completely fair…I think she made a big mistake when she declined a real job for the chance or an internship in a big newspaper and even when she met her idol and managed to have her number at the end of season 7 seems that she never go back to her. Even if was hard, I think she made the right thing not getting married to Logan at that point. However, she travels a lot to London and surprise! She is having a kind of open relationship with Logan. He is engaged but they still seeing each other. She even hides this from Lorelai. Seriously Rory, didn’t you learn anything after being with Dean while he was married? This has been very unexpected to me.
    3. Emily is completely lost. After 50 years Richard is not longer there and she does not know what to do that is completely understandable. Lorelai and Emily started to go together to therapy and once again some of the dirty plates came back to the top.
  2. SPRING: we continue with the three of them trying to find their place in the world now and we are back to the Stars Hollow meeting and having differents cameos. Emily, in a very particular way, lets Luke know that Richard left some money to franchise Luke’s Dinner and, obviously Luke does not want to. This opens some old scars and for a moment I panicked thinking Lorelai and Luke will break up. We are even back to Chilton and that moment in the bathroom with Paris was so funny. Again, I think Rory could be a bit more open-minded. She has no job and when she had an offer she seems to be offended. I think she would be a good teacher.
  3. SUMMER: my less favourite episode and kind of a disappointment. Basically, we have a Stars Hollow musical that could be cool if they don’t make us watch the full and, in some parts, painful songs. They could make a song and then the last one that is very touchy and perfect to the moment but 10 full minutes were not necessary, especially when you have just 6 hours and too many things to catch up with. Those 10 minutes would be better in a scene omitted in the fall episode or telling us a bit more about Paris, Lane, Jess, Dean or more scenes with Rory and Lorelai. I was a bit angry with this episode. In the other hand, Jess appears in this episode and thank god. As usual, he is brilliant and helps Rory to find her way and her goal in life and is just so perfect the way that everything fills in. Rory is the new editor of the Stars Hollow Gazzetta and Jess suggests to Rory that she should write about something she is passionate about and that a book about Lorelai and herself is perfect. This revival is about circles all the time and what could Rory tell better than her own story? What if all the episodes that we have watched are chapters of that book? Isn’t it perfect? Thank you, Jess! 😻Obviusly, this brings a big fight between mother and daughter and thankfully does not last long.
  4. FALL: why is this my favourite? is all about circles of life, closing doors to open new ones. Lorelai decide to go Wild and I must admit that I have no faith in her going to the nature and walk or follow the book experience but that phone call to Emily made me cry like a baby. In Winter, we have a very sad moment when Lorelai is not able to tell a funny or nice story about Richard after his funeral. In this episode, the circle close with a perfect story and a great moment mother-daughter. Second, Lorelai and Luke finally are getting married and I love it but…we don’t see the big wedding and this annoys me a bit. After all this time, I think we deserve that moment. The funny speech, the dances, the white dress and the happy ending but we just have a sneak peak of an amazing decoration, a wedding in the middle of the night without Emily (that I find terrible. Emily should be there) and I still thinking those 10 minutes could be the wedding and not the musical. Rory and Lorelai agree to go with the book and Gilmore Girls will be a reality. That moment when Rory run full of excitement to tell Jess she will write the book is so beautiful and that moment that they share is pretty. Also, the conversation between Luke and Jess after makes it clear to me that Jeff is not over Rory. About the circles…we close lots of them.
  • Like in the first season, Lorelai goes to Emily and ask for money. They agree that Lorelai will use Luke’s franchise money to make The Dragonfly Inn bigger and Emily ensure Lorelai and Luke will visit her as she did with Friday Dinners. That means that Michel will stay and Sookie is back to the Dragonfly Inn. I missed the moments between Lorelai and Sookie and I think they have loss a bit that magic they used to have on the screen.
  • Rory and Logan break up. We have a last Death and Life Brigade moment and was so magical😍and full of  heartbreaking goodbyes. Logan could say something like “If you jump, I jump” and would be perfect; they could have another ending…but once again…Logan offers her a life she is not willing to take. In season 7, Logan proposed and Rory decided to carry on with her career and declined to the proposal. The last scene between them was Rory giving him back the ring. In Fall, Logan offers her a house. After one last night together, Rory decides to carry on writing her book in Richard’s old office and declined to be “the other one” giving him back the key.
  • Emily decides to sell the house and buy a new one. First thing under her name and quits DAR with a lot of style. Also, she has a job and seems so happy. She leaves back all the weights that have carried for 50 years.
  • Rory and Dean. That conversation was perfect. The way that she tells him what would she write about him is the Dean that we have watched all these years and was nice to see that he carried on with his life and is happy.
  • The final circle that close…was unexpected but after 24 hours I think is a perfect way to close this show. If tomorrow they say that we will have more episodes, I will be so happy and waiting to watch them but if not…I think we can kind of guess what would happen.

FINAL FOUR WORDS: before the release date was a lot of hype with the famous last words. Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that she always knew these would be the final words.

Rory: Mum

Lorelai: Yeah?

Rory: I’m pregnant

WHAT A BOOM!!! 🙀 I totally was not expecting this, even if during the episode you kind of seeing it coming, but ending there? OH NO! I can’t, I need more! I was so angry and I really wanted to scream to Amy Sherman-Palladino. HOW DOES SHE DARE? Where is the next episode? I was really so upset. Could not believe it.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN: After giving it a good thinking I started to understand that the last four words and how is a perfect way to finish the circle of life. Rory is unexpectedly pregnant as Lorelai was. I really believe the father of the baby is Logan ( no that one night guy) and I also believe the conversation between Rory and Christopher could be between Logan and Rory in the future. Logan is Rory’s Christopher. I think Logan is completely into the family businesses and he will marry Odette. He will try to take part into the baby life and will have moments with Rory as Lorelai had with Christopher but they do not belong together after all. 😿They have had lots of chances and they keep saying goodbye. I also think, the baby is a girl and will be the fourth Lorelai Gilmore and I think, Rory will write her book and will success with it and may go back to Chilton as a teacher or move to Queens and start a life there as she mentions during the episodes.I also think Jess is Rory’s Luke and he will support and help her as Luke did with Lorelai. That moment when Jess looks at Rory was so Luke looking at Lorelai during the first seasons.😻 Finally, I think Lorelai and Luke will be a modern and most tolerant version of Emily and Richard. A perfect circle of life. I would love to see all this but if we don’t …that would be my ending:

Rory = Lorelai

Jess = Luke

Logan = Christopher

Lorelai & Luke = Emily and Richard but in a modern way.

And to close perfectly the circle, in the last episode, after these four words we listen for the first time in this new season the opening song and if I was not crying enough, I cried a bit more…

Let me know your thoughts or your theories about Gilmore Girls.

Lots of love,

Angela 😘😘
